Having a takeaway is a huge thing on Medium, but I’m not sure I agree. Most of the articles that have resonated with me the most do not have a clear takeaway. They are describing a personal experience that I empathize with. Sometimes the way they view an experience, positive or negative is different to mine, or I am just grateful that someone thinks or feels the same way. I really love a publication on here called Unwritten Journal. Basically you just pour your heart out. It’s pretty successful, and I have had articles do well there, that’s because my experience resonates. I get what you’re saying, but if I’m perfectly honest it’s not what I look for on Medium all the time. I do think that writers don’t have to give these takeaways all the time. A conclusion to an experience is a takeaway.
