Ok I can see you argument but it’s not reducing the income directly of writers. I do agree though that there have been algorithm issues that have meant that readers and writers for a while weren’t getting exposed to the right content. Now, I think I see the right articles. They are on topics I read a ton of. There was a time when there was some issues there. There are issues with the app. Particularly writing in the app. But that’s separate. I don’t know if I necessarily agree with your accusation of medium being a controlling dictator. But I also have worked for many businesses and know that they operate solely for financial concerns. There really is no way around that, right? I think most companies find it difficult to maintain their image or stance as a company of the people or of creators once they get to a certain size. I have personal experience of this from another industry. I don’t think it’s the decision of one or two individuals but an inevitable outcome. Once they taste success they have to keep going. Scaling back is not an option. In that sense I understand their desire to protect content and their brand. I don’t necessarily agree with how they are doing it but I also don’t think that any company in the world does this well. This is capitalism.
